'Of Course, Socks' - A Mixtape

From time to time a song pops up through my headphones while I'm out and about, and i pull out my ipod to check what song it is, and I think, 'oh, of course, of course'. So this week ive remembered what they were, and created a little playlist.

1. Beem - Color Separated (w. Peder from Deportees) - The Swedes always do things a bit differently, and a bit awesome at the same time. 'Beem' is the lovelly work of Fredrik Mjelle, its got a 90s groove to it - check out his other stuff.

2. Active Child - When Your Love Is Safe - Despite doing the rounds on my ipod for months now, this song still impresses me, the lyrics are awesome, the guys voice is mesmerising, its a real 'life could be worse' song. 

3. Pop Winds - The Turquoise - Do you ever listen to a song while your walking somewhere and think, wow, this would be the perfect track for this moment if i was in a movie. This song did it for me walking home from the station last night.

4. The 2 Bears - Be Strong - Hot Chips Joe Goddard teams up with producer Raf Daddy to create “rump-shaking, unpretentious house”, and id have to agree - the vocal in this remind me of UNKLE - Reign.

5. Chromeo - Don't Turn The Lights On (Aeroplane Remix) - Once again Aeroplane pumps out another catchy remix, and this time Chromeo is under the hammer. It's a real keeper this one, enjoy and play it loud.

6. Clubfeet - Count Your Lovers - Sebastian Cohen, Eaves Roberts, and Monty Cooper make fun indie-dance that isn’t boring, or repetitive like a lot of other stuff floating around. They're Australian so support them, their whole album 'Gold on Gold' is worth a good listen. (Think Hotchip/Beat Connection...soughta)

7. Claps - Lost - From Minneapolis, Mennisota with their 'new wave - pop' sound Claps have only released a number of songs, and so far ive enjoyed what i've heard.

8. Mike Posner & the Brain Trust - Smoke & Drive ft. Big Sean, Donnis, and Jackie Chain - A certain friend of mine put me onto these guys, and they fucking rock - i can't get enough of it. This song popped up during the week and stood out for me, theres something about that voice!!!

9. Kamp! - Distance Of The Modern Hearts - This band reminds me of Australian band Amy Meredith, but better. Released earlier this year on a two track EP 'Heats', i think its time for an album?! 

10. Civil Civic - Less Unless - Arrrggggg this song is epic, its raw, its loud, its crazy, it makes you wanna go crazy, itll grab you by the balls.

So there is the 'Of Course, Socks' mixtape! I hope you enjoy these special tracks as much as i enjoyed being surprised by them over the last week.

Cody Hudson for Converse

Here is the latest collaboration effort from Converse, with designer Cody Hudson lending his magic to the classic Chuck Taylor Hightop. Full leather upper with classy embossed logos and artwork matched with deep blue/red trims and laces. These are wicked.

Darren Hanlon - I Will Love You At All

Darren Hanlon is by no means new to the Australian music scene. Performing as a solo singer/songwriter since 1999 he has released a number of successful folk/ballad style albums, and with the release of his 4th studio album "I Will Love You At All" he has further cemented his name as a future legend of Australian folk music. A recent tour with The Magnetic Fields successfully launched the new album, and its a definitely worth a listen (think Paul Kelly/Angus Stone).

DANIELS do The Hundreds In The Hands

A month or so back i posted the music video to Fm Belfast - Underwear, produced by the creative duo DANIELS. Well now the talented two have released their latest collaboration with up and coming New York indie poppers The Hundreds In The Hands. Its a great film clip, and a great song, you really get the feeling of how hammered this chick is. Hope you like it.
