Beardyman - Amazing

From his myspace:
"His first musical venture was writing a symphony for his school orchestra at the age of ten. At fifteen, an introduction to drum 'n' bass led to his long-standing obsession with music technology. Now, in his live shows, as well as world-class solo human-beatbox, he uses his voice and live synths, driven through cutting-edge sound-mangling technology to create dance-inducing layered rhythms, breath-taking soundscapes, fully produced songs and tunes, often totally improvised and all created entirely from scratch.

Au Revoir Simone - Night Light

I'm usually a little sceptical of remix albums, they're a bold move for artists and its rare that i find an album that actually impresses me more than or equally as the original. However, the all girl trio from Brookylyn, Au Revoir Simone, has let a selection of hand picked artists go loose on their 2009 album Still Night, Still Light, and it has paid off big time. After a quick scan through the artists remixing the album I already had a sense that it was a keeper - Aeroplane, Tanlines, Neon Indian, Your Twenties, Montag and even Jens Lekman. My favourite track on the release would have to be Clock Opera's remake of Tell Me, it's an airy heart warmer and i cant get enough of it. Go grab the whole Album.

For your special enjoyment I've uploaded the Aeroplane , Tanlines, and Clock Opera's remixes.

For Your Feet

There's some nice footwear being released the northern hemisphere as it slowly rolls into its Fall season. Unfortunately we here in Australia don't get to see a whole lot of these foot accessories due to out inconvenient location. Below are a few pairs that have caught my eye over the last week.

Nike Blazer Hi Suede Vintage ND Varsity blue

Common Projects 5-Hole Slip On (Also available in Neutral)

Nike SB Stefan Janoski Pine Green/Sail (Purchased!)
Also check out this Design-Your-Own shoe that US footwear brand KEDS has just started it up. They do your basic canvas shoes for men, women and kids. This little feature allows you to custom colour your shoes, and they are cheap as chips. At the moment the men's styles are fairly limited, however there is promise of expanding it in the near future.

Surf Films and Music

For the last 3 years in July i've been hopping on a crowded Jetstar flight to Indonesia ready to get perfect waves in hot sun with some fellow nugz, this year however i'm not going, and it blows. After watching Endless Summer II for the bazillionth time this week it made me, once again, want to pack up all my stuff, and chase the dream. There's something about Bruce Browns voice and sense of humour that gets me every time. I could sit here and quote the movie all day, "mmmm shortboarders", but instead ill post a great scene from the movie with that classic 1990's surf guitar noise that we all love, right!!

Thicker Than Water is another classic surf movie that i frequently watch. Here's a little snippet from the movie. Jack Johnson on guitar, Kelly Slater Voice over, makes you wanna get outttttta here!!!!

Ive also included a link to a great song from the Thicker Than Water soundtrack. Its by G Love and Jack Johnson and its one of my faves!! Enjoy!

FUR - Polybreak

Texan producer FUR (Bryce Isbell) was brought to my attention earlier this year, and since then I've found some absolutely awesome tunes of his. FUR released his debut full-length album “Colorful People” on October 31st, 2009 alongside a remix EP titled “Black Castles” (available for free download here).
The track I've posted below is a warped, alternative, electronic jam, taken from the group’s forthcoming single, their first with new member Gray St. Germain Gideon (ex-Ghosthustler). Can't wait for the EP to drop!
